Welcome to Our Miniature Horse Farm
My name is Wendy and I was born with a passion for horses that I inherited from my father. I have owned my own horse ever since my father gave me a Shetland pony when I was eight years old. I have also been involved with many other breeds including my father’s love affair with Draft Horses and Standardbreds.
Today, my husband Bill is my partner in our small Miniature herd. We purchased our first mini in 1993 after the death of my beloved full size pinto horse, Misty. Our first mini was a sorrel and white mare named Sreenan’s Precious that resembled Misty. We quickly fell in love with this small breed and returned to purchase Sreenan’s Lady Elita, the next year we added our stallion Toyland Domino and another broodmare Toyland China, and as they say, the rest is history……
We actively show our horses in Southern Ontario. In 1995 we started a group called Special Horses…Special Kids which involved having Special Needs Children come to our place on a weekly basis to groom and work with some of our selected horses, in preparation for the children to participate in many of local shows.
In 2006, I started the Haldimand County Miniature Horse 4H Club which has been a huge success. Youth from ages 10 -21 are taught show grooming and showmanship skills, and members are given the opportunity to show at local fairs.
Our real passion is harness driving. We both compete in open, and obstacle driving. And one day plan to have a matched team of
Falabellas, that we have bred, raised and trained to drive. We are members of the Falabella Breeders Association and are committed to
preserving the PURE Falabella as a Breed. Our plan for the future is to have two breeding stallions of different bloodlines and be
able to offer breeding pairs to breeders wishing to start their own Falabella herd.
About Our Horses:In the beginning we knew little about the various Registries, bloodlines, shows etc. Our first two mares arrived with Falabella papers, and after some research and a trip to the Land of Little Horses in Gettysburg, PA, the home of the Falabella Registry, we were hooked on this rare bloodline with their very unique history. Today, we have a small herd of anywhere from 10 – 15 horses. All horses are handled daily. We try our best to keep our horses in good shape. Horses are individually fed both hay and grain according to their age and current body condition. A certified equine nutritionist is consulted when needed. All horses are dewormed, vet checked and vaccinated on a regular basis. Hoofs are trimmed by a professional Farrier as needed. Horses are stabled at night in individual boxstalls and outside in paddocks during the day, weather permitting.
Mares are hand bred only and are not trailered after breeding. Mares due to foal are monitored by closed circuit TV cameras. Detailed health records are computerized for each horse. Extended pedigrees including size and colour are available upon request.
We feel it is very important that foals be handled from birth. Foals are halter broke as soon as the smallest halter fits; and bathed and clipped at a young age.
Our horses are guaranteed to be healthy and well mannered.
